Personal

If there’s one word that best describes this awesome lens, it’s “Creamy”. The bokeh (depth of field or DOF) it produces is oh-so-buttery! One thing I notice is that my 24-70mm appears to be sharper and seems to perform better in low light, which shouldn’t be the case. I’m still on the getting-to-know basis with my new glass so hopefully I could find its “sweet spot”, which according to The-Digital-Picture.com, can be achieved by stopping down from f/2.8 to f/4.

Here’s what I took at f/2.8 ISO 650 hand held at 1/40 sec [image came straight out of the camera]

Here’s another test shot to illustrate the bokeh (notice the blurry greens in the background, for all you non-technical folks). I can’t wait to use it at this weekend’s wedding!

My model is in need of a haircut… and shave ;)

Personal

Whenever I buy anything online, I always go for a 2-3 day delivery, more so if my package will be coming from the east coast. I am not the most patient person in the world, especially when it comes to new digital toys. Last week, I finally gave in and purchased my new 70-200mm 2.8 IS glass. I buy practically all my equipment from B&H (with the exception of my Crumpler bags), but this time I opted to buy from Adorama to take advantage of their free shipping offer. Of course you don’t get overnight delivery with that “free” shipping so I had to wait patiently for 5 days to receive my order. I’m surprised I didn’t injure my finger from all that reloading on the UPS tracking page. ;)

Finally on the 5th day, the Brown Santa walked in with my new baby and oh boy she’s everything I hoped she would be… gorgeous and rugged! She and I will be busy for the next couple of days.

Just Cause

OMG! I sooo enjoyed this session so much! Not only cause my latest client is fabulous in front of my camera, but also cause I’m shooting my good friend Kyle whom I haven’t seen in months! Kyle and I have been best buddies for over 15 years. He and I have been through so much together that he’s like a brother to me. I was so excited to not only be spending the afternoon with him, but to also capture his flamboyant style and fun-loving personality.

Clearly free-spirited ;)

I love this shot! What do you need flash for if you’ve got some awesome sun?

You know there’s got to be some bench shots!

Doesn’t this image have the New York feel to it?

I love the emotion on this one!

These walls are awesome!

Kyle and I usually take photos of us together, so this next portrait was taken for the sake of tradition :p … Can you see me?!

And finally, my favorite… I shot this wide open at f/2.8 with the sun directly behind him.

I miss you already, Kylicious! Till next time!
