Just Cause

Holy cow! This has got to be one of my favorite sets ever. It’s my first time to shoot someone who actually does modeling, so it was a bit embarrassing for me to be “directing” Devon, who probably knew more about posing than I do. I had a vision in mind when we were in the planning stages of this session, and to ask someone naturally good-humored to give me a bit of rage, and to lose the shirt while he’s at it, took a lot of guts.

Devon had wanted to do a shoot that will show his physique, and I thought it could be achieved by having some great backdrop with facial expression to match. I wanted the subject to look sexy without making him look too vulgar. I think he did a great job ;)

We started of with some ambient lighting.

Everything from this point on was shot with an off-camera strobe and a soft box… in broad DAYLIGHT.

I love how the light accentuated his muscles even more

Did I mention Devon is a dancer? Hence the moves.

Devon, thank you for trusting our studio with this project. I had a fun afternoon! Even if we couldn’t begin the shoot right away because 1) you couldn’t find a bathroom, and 2) I misplaced my batteries which I found later in the same spot where I left them. Haha! Good times.

Must have been a fun session! I particularly love the personalities that came through in the shots — fitness, sexy, sweet and gentle mixture.
